About Us

Our Philosophy

Carolina MD Acupuncture is founded on the principle that both Eastern and contemporary Western medicine have their own proper place. There are occasions when one is preferable to the other. We are a Medical  Acupuncture practice, and we respect and understand the complexity of today's patient in today's complex health care system.
We care about details. We will review your records and spend time to listen to you and to counsel you.

Our Goal

Our goal is to supplement and complement the care that you receive from your health care team.  Whether it be aches and pains or various non-pain medical conditions, call us to see how we can help. All medical issues will be discussed directly with you by the physician.

Our Physician Acupuncturist

Dr Henry Yu is a board-certified physician who has been in full-time clinical practice in South Carolina since 2002. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, IL and his Nephrology fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.  Dr. Yu is a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.

Our Services

What to Expect

The initial visit may take up to 1 1/2-2 hours, depending on the complexity. We will take the time to hear your story and perform a  physical examination. We will then plan and initiate an acupuncture treatment.

How much does it Cost?

We  believe that health care should be  affordable. We do not accept insurance. However, please contact us with your situation and we will likely be able to help.

Are there Risks?

All medical procedures carry some amount of risk, but acupuncture is generally very well tolerated. You can help minimize even the low risks further by providing a detailed accounting of your medical history and medications.
